PREGNANCY SCANS

Pregnancy scans are essential diagnostic tools that use ultrasound technology to
monitor the development and health of the fetus throughout pregnancy. These scans
provide crucial information about the baby’s growth, detect potential anomalies, and ensure the well-being of both mother and child. They can be performed using different techniques and at various stages of pregnancy to provide a comprehensive view of fetal health.

Our Pregnancy Scan Services

1. Early Pregnancy Scan

  • Transabdominal Scan (TAS): This non-invasive scan uses an external
ultrasound probe over the abdomen to confirm pregnancy, assess gestational age,
and check for the presence of a heartbeat.
  • Transvaginal Scan (TVS): A more detailed scan using an internal probe for clearer images, particularly useful in early pregnancy to check for number of fetuses, their development and viability

2. Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan

Conducted between 11 and 14 weeks, this scan measures the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck to screen for chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome.

3. Early Anomaly Scan (16 Weeks)

This scan is designed to identify any major structural abnormalities in the fetus early on, allowing for timely intervention and management.

4. Targeted Imaging for Fetal Anomalies (TIFFA) - Level II Scan (18-22 Weeks)

A detailed ultrasound to assess fetal anatomy, this scan checks for any structural
abnormalities and monitors fetal growth and development.

5. Growth Scan + Doppler (28 Weeks)

This scan assesses the baby’s growth and development in the later stages of pregnancy,
along with blood flow in the placenta and umbilical cord to ensure proper fetal
nourishment.

6. Second Opinion

  • Normal: A confirmation scan to verify that a previous scan indicating normal findings is accurate, providing peace of mind for expectant parents.
  •  Abnormal: An additional scan to confirm and further investigate any abnormalities detected in previous ultrasounds for better diagnosis and treatment planning.

7. Fetal Well-Being Scan

This scan monitors the baby’s movements, heart rate, and amniotic fluid levels, ensuring
the overall health and well-being of the fetus, particularly in the third trimester.

8. Advanced 3D/4D Scan

Utilizing advanced ultrasound technology, this scan provides detailed 3D images and
real-time 4D videos of the baby, offering a unique view of fetal features and movements.
